Who We Are

Our Story:

Anchored Wings was born out of a mother’s love and a loss that has reshaped everything. What began in heartbreak has become a mission rooted in compassion, connection, community, and the hope that no family will ever have to face this road alone.

Hi, I’m Angie, and my son Austin began struggling with his mental health at just thirteen, when he made his first suicide attempt. Over the next seven years, he fought with a courage that still humbles me. Moving through the school system, counsellors, six different medications, endless doctor appointments, hospital admissions, and moments of hope intertwined with deep uncertainty. We tried everything we knew. But the system was never designed to truly hold him, and the cracks were wider than our reach.

On February 14, 2025, our world shattered when Austin died by suicide.

In the unbearable quiet that followed, the space between what was and what will never be I realized how deeply families are left to navigate suicide alone. There is barely prevention. There is barely intervention. But there is almost nothing for the after. The ache. The disorientation. The rebuilding no one prepares you for.

Anchored Wings grew from that silence into a promise: that families touched by suicide will feel supported, understood, and held by their community. That grief will not be something they carry in isolation. That awareness, education, and compassionate connection can create real change.

We exist because Austin deserved better.
Because every person fighting for their life deserves better.
Because every family learning how to breathe again deserves a soft and supportive place to land.

For Austin. For every family still fighting. For every heart learning how to breathe again. 💜🩵
